Itinerary
Heather and Alec will be travelling to 4 different continents and spending 5 to 6 weeks in each location. Here is the simple itinerary. Click on each region for more details!
- Eastern Europe We arrive in London, where we will spend a week relaxing and visiting friends and family. Ever the anti-tourists, we'll probably be heading to Wales and Leeds. We'll leave again from London and fly to Frankfurt where we'll have about 5 weeks to visit some of what we're calling the "Western Eastern European Countries." Highlights include the Czech Republic, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Hungary.
- Southern Africa We fly in and out of Cape Town, South Africa for this leg. After a few days in and around Cape Town, we are taking a three week "Adventure Tour" courtesy of Which Way Adventures. The tour leads us up the west coast into Namibia, and then across the continent through Botswana to Zimbabwe. We finish at Victoria Falls. From there, we have about 2 weeks to get back to Cape Town. We're expecting to drive part of that trip. Highlights along the way include the Kruger wildlife preserve, Swaziland, Lesotho, and the Garden Route.
- Southeast Asia We will fly into Singapore and probably stay the night. Then we'll head up the Thai penninsula by train and begin exploring some of the wonders of the region. We'll make a loop through Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia before finally returning to Bangkok.
- Oceana We begin this leg in Melbourne. From there we may visit some family friends in Tasmania. Next we'll we'll head up the eastern coast seeing sights along the way. If we have time, we'll head inland for a week or two in the bush. But a trip to Australia wouldn't be complete without New Zealand! When we've had enough of Australia, we'll head to Auckland and explore the north island. But we won't spent much time there as we've heard the south island is really where its at. When we're completely exhausted, we'll head back to Christchurch for our flight back to the US.
