Yes, it's our honeymoon and yes, we're in bunk beds!!!
Not only bunkbeds, but bunks that are part of an 8-bed dorm room. Somehow I think we've taken this budget thing a little too far.
We took about 7 hours of train travel to get here, but now we're on the Pest side of Budapest in the rain... and ready to see what happens next! I guess it is supposed to rain all week, so that's a bummer.
As soon as we checked in a put down our padlock deposit last night, Alec and I hit the streets in search of food. As synchronicity would have it, we ran into one of my high school friends at a busy intersection when we were debating which way to turn. I had known that Chris G. was in town, but we had made no plans to meet up so it was pretty freaky to see him there yelling at us.
We all headed to a very cheesy bar that served pub grub for our first Hungarian meal. I had fried mushroom caps with rice. In the dreary weather, I can admit that the Burger King was calling my name for the first time too. I don't like that place usually, but it looked so clean and friendly and gleaming...
We are planning to upgrade our accommodations and see the city today in the rain. How romantic!
